DC Reduced Voltage Starters

How does a DC emergency lube pump starter differ from an AC starter?

Several things: Across-the-line starts will damage DC motors, unless the HP is less than 3HP (@230VDC). In addition, due to the critical nature of the lube pump application, there is typically no running overload protection; the overload sends an alarm only. The DC pump motor and starter are far less critical than the lubrication of a utility turbine generator system. For more information, about these applications please contact EC&M.
